My inspiration comes from many areas and I find that a slow walk around a thrift store is the perfect way for me to get my creative juices flowing. There might not be a purchase made, but I always leave with an idea. Recently, I have been making polymer clay sculptures, completing commissioned pet portraits, and crafting my heart out!
I first remember my Grandma showing me how to use a crayon. Since then I have had many great instructors. My teachers have always been sponsors of my creative flow and providers of a safe space for self exploration. I am extremely thankful. I began to focus on my art in 2004 and attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for my senior year of high school. I went on to UNC Greensboro for my first year of college and then moved on to Appalachian State University where I received my BFA in studio art concentrating in ceramics.
Raised in Silk Hope, North Carolina, I experienced a rural childhood surrounded by pastures, chicken houses, and pungent country air. I miss the quiet of the dark and the simple memories of lightning bugs, the smell of honey suckle, and the sound of birds calling to one another.
